Uncompromised
Scripture reading: Daniel 6:13 – ‘They told the king….. Daniel is ignoring you…he still prays to his God.’
Like Daniel, God has asked us to live a life that is worthy of His calling, at the same time, knowing that He will help us, in our obedience.
Daniel’s life was one of faith-filled obedience and devotion to His God. It sheds light on our Heavenly Father’s unfailing love, and on Daniel’s trust in that love, in every situation he was faced with, and there were many.
Daniel was so certain, that no matter what, God would hold first place in his life.
He understood that God’s love and approval, was all he needed, and therefore he desired to guard his heart with all diligence (Proverbs 4:23) against the wrong influences.
This caused Daniel to make choices that were pleasing in the sight of God, without fear of the outcome. What a wonderful example of living our own lives this is for us.
Daniel’s faithfulness to God shone through, as his excellence of character ended up elevating him to a higher position in the king’s royal service. This caused jealousy and criticism from others (we need to be careful and on the lookout for these traits that the enemy uses to undermine us).
As the scripture above reveals, David would not pray to anyone but His God, and this resulted in his breaking of the king’s law, with serious consequences. He was arrested and placed in a den of hungry lions.
Our God is above all of man’s plans, as He not only rescued Daniel by sending an angel to shut the lions’ mouths, but showed the king that He is the living God. As we stand in faith, God can use our testimony with far reaching effects. King Darius sent a message to people of every race, nation and language about the God of Daniel. (Daniel 6:25)
God has every aspect of our lives covered when we allow Him to show us the way to abide and trust in Him, and don’t give in to the temptation of living according to the ways of the world, rather than His ways.
