New season update
The journey so far
Macquarie Life Church has been built on the strength of 30 years under the vision , ministry, and leadership of Mark and Roz Zaia.
When Mark handed leadership of the church to Roz in 2020 he charged her with the responsibility of handing the baton of the church on to the next generation, and he received these words from the Holy Spirit:
“I will now transition My church into The Age that is quickly approaching. It needs a different anointing, a different generation, and a different insight to take reigns”
With the landscape and complexity of church changing, and the difficulty in finding someone to take on the senior leadership role, God began to speak about a new model of leadership – a team leadership model, that embraces the New Testament synergy of the 5 fold gifts, and a broader empowerment within the body of Christ. This is what the new era needs.
The model
The new structure will be a legacy model, driven by a Leadership Team.
The church will move from a traditional single leader or senior pastor couple to a senior leadership team. This model spreads the load of leadership across more shoulders, to carry greater capacity. Today 42% of pastors are thinking of leaving the ministry under the weight of the responsibility. The new model creates a framework for leaders that shares the load, and allows them to move in and out of leadership as needed, without disrupting the church. Unlike with a single senior leader, a member of the team can change, and the church retains its core strength. This makes way for a stable perpetuity over the future of our church.
The second part of the model is the continuation of our legacy, protecting the prophetic future of our church. We have spent time over the last year identifying who we are, and what is important to us – our DNA. The Leadership Team will work within this framework, ensuring the future of the church lasts through the generations.
About the Leadership Team
The Senior Leadership Team will be an apostolic team responsible for the vision and leadership of the church.
It will hold a full expression of the 5 fold giftings. Rather than leaning on a senior pastor with just one set of gifts, the church is now lead by the full 5 Fold ministry. Jesus gifted for the church: apostle, prophet, pastor, teacher and evangelist. (Ephesians 4:11). All 5 functioning together in New Testament synergy.
The team will include pastors to care for you, prophets to hear what God is saying to the church, the teacher to equip and bring order, the evangelist to keep us focussed on the great commission, and the Apostle to keep the church moving into the future.
The team will hold mutual empowerment, and mutual submission to one another. The team will be led by an Executive Leader with an apostolic gifting. The Executive Leader will lead the Leadership Team, and the Leadership Team will lead the church. Vision comes from the Executive Leader in collaboration with the team. The expression and execution of the vision will come from the leadership team.
The Leadership Team will start in February 2023.
Accountability and Governance
The church will be governed by 3 teams; the Board, the Elders, and the Leadership Team. The constitution will create a framework of appointment and accountability between these three teams.
Leadership Team – An apostolic team responsible for the vision and leadership of the church
Board - Govern and protect the church
Elders - Responsible for the spiritual wellbeing and care of the leaders and the church
AN ORGANISATION MODEL OF TEAMS
This model will create a prototype for organisation within the rest of the church, which will be structured through layers of teams. The Leadership Team, Strategy Teams and Discipleship Teams. By working through teams we create a broader reach for the church, and more opportunity for people to be empowered, trained, supported and released into leadership and ministry.
Empowering you
Our goal in this leadership structure is is to equip you for the work of the ministry. The bible says that it’s the leaders role to equip you all for the work of the ministry:
Ephesians 4:11–12
And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ.
We will all carry the church together, equipped and released to do the work of the ministry like never before. To go out like an army that will impact every sphere of society, in our professions and our communities - fulfilling our God given assignments

OUR DNA
The Leadership Team will lead the church within a DNA Framework, this will help retain who we are through the generations. The Team will lead with innovation and change in keeping with what is needed for the future of the church, but it will be done in the safety of this DNA Framework. We will see change, and things may look different, but they should still feel like us.
