He is “The Refreshing of Israel”
Mary and Joseph had taken the baby Jesus to Jerusalem to be dedicated before the Lord.
Luke 2:25-28 (The Passion Translation)
“As they came to the temple to fulfill this requirement, an elderly man was there waiting—a resident of Jerusalem whose name was Simeon. He was a very good man, a lover of God who kept himself pure, and the Spirit of holiness rested upon him. Simeon believed in the imminent appearing of the one called “The Refreshing of Israel.” For the Holy Spirit had revealed to him that he would not see death before he saw the Messiah, the Anointed One of God. Keeping his promise, the Holy Spirit led Simeon to be in the temple court at the very moment Jesus’ parents entered to fulfill the requirement of the sacrifice.”
“The Refreshing of Israel” is a name for Jesus that can also be translated “The Encourager of Israel”. What a beautiful picture of Jesus and what he wants to do for us each day.
He is fresh manna, He is living water, He is new life and is able to keep us in a constant state of “freshness” as He dwells within.
Every day the Holy Spirit wants to reveal to you who Jesus is in you and who you are in Him. The Holy Spirit wants to reveal to you all the promises set before you.
When we lost our little Sadie girl (our granddaughter), it was a difficult time to navigate but the Holy Spirit kept bringing us times of refreshing to help us trust in our Lord and Saviour. To see the bigger picture and how the promises set efore us still apply to our lives.
Let Him refresh you today.
